As Deer Park’s only nonprofit vocational training center and employment enterprise for adults with disabilities, S.T.E.P.S. focuses on creating the ideal environment for individual growth. Our mission is to provide vocational training and employment opportunities to young adults with physical, intellectual, and emotional disabilities. We believe all individuals deserve the opportunity to share their unique talents with the world.
Since beginning our nonprofit training program in 2019, we have had the privilege of seeing the impact training and employment can have on a young adult’s life. Each one has grown in their vocational abilities, but more importantly, has become more confident and excited about what their future has to offer. We are seeking your support in establishing a dynamic new training program and engraving enterprise. We are requesting $7,490 to cover the cost of the necessary supplies to begin in order not only to train but employ young adults in our community.
According to the Texas Workforce Investment Council in 2017, 81.3% of all individuals with disabilities were not participants in the workforce. In order to be considered part of the workforce, an individual must be currently employed, unemployed, or seeking work. These statistics highlight what our young adults face every day, the lack of training and employment opportunities. Our local community, Deer Park, is made up of 7.9% of individuals with disabilities, while the surrounding communities of Pasadena and La Porte have 8.1% and 11.6%, respectively. Join us in changing the lives of the young adults in these communities by providing us with a one time or recurring donation to continue our mission.
We are requesting $7,490 to cover the cost of the necessary supplies to begin an engraving enterprise not only to train but employ young adults in our community. Your generous support will make not only our goals possible but the dreams of our young adults come true. Employing and training our small group of young adults may not change the whole world, but it changes their whole world, and to us, that is all that matters.

Our Engraving Enterprise is funded in part by Shell Deer Park. We were lucky enough to be chosen as a Shell Community Grant Recipient this year and we are so excited to use those funds towards our engraving enterprise!
